This is an outstanding opportunity to:

Lead the Linx Electronics team in all aspects of personal and product development, whilst maintaining some individual technical contributions. Manage and develop the team, both technically and professionally with the right demeanor, using excellent Electronics principles and designs. With high motivation, good organisation skills and a consistent track record in product development and manufacture, you can grow and develop.

In this role, you will work across Linx to develop and maintain the next generation of printers. Collaborating with the Senior Hardware Engineering Manager in Linx, St Ives, this is a great opportunity to use your electronics design experience, win with a great team and build relationships across the diverse Engineering departments. This includes daily interactions with R&D Director, Mechanical and Software teams, Program managers and in house Manufacturing engineers supporting production.

This position is for a Senior Electronics Engineer, who is experienced in industrial sectors, and wants to engage, nurture, and grow talent within the team. 

This role will be responsible for 4 professional engineers including 2 senior associates, to develop Linx branded Marking and Coding equipment.  The successful candidate will work in a collaborative environment, where support and encouragement are provided.

Your responsibilities as an Electronics Engineering Manager at Linx, include:

  • Leading and motivating the electronics team, implementing and driving critical thinking, demonstrating and developing technical competence with speed. Working with the Electronics Engineers to share and develop multi-functional knowledge and skills, providing input in design reviews and problem solving support

  • Responsible for the accelerated product development of new printer products using industrial design, incorporating mass production techniques using advanced Electronic systems, that include: Schematic and PCB layout, high voltage circuits, power supplies, analogue and high speed digital circuits.  These robust systems include integration with complex mechanical, electronics and fluid systems to meet our customers’ high expectations.

  • Meeting agreed project key performance indicators, ensuring alignment to processes including design reviews, product verification and validation programs.

  • Working across departments from an electrical perspective, developing rapport and engagement, whilst meeting agreed outcomes including quality, performance, time to market, sustainment and overall product cost. 

  • Continuously improves systems and processes across the business in conjunction with the wider team, developing new technologies and standard toolsets (CAD, FMEAs, Simulation, knowledge base for example) to help reduce design time, right first time, whilst also bringing new insights and engagement to Linx.  Being actively involved with Kaizen and workshops to deliver ideas and suggestions to make savings, improvements, guidance and mentorship to others in the business on product changes

  • Technical specialist on all electrical engineering matters, including the regulatory requirements for machine safety in a global market, whilst ensuring and maintaining a professional and safe working environment.

Your Education and/or Background Experience will include:

                                                   

  • Honours Degree in Electronics Engineering or time-served experience in a relevant industry

  • Working in and leading a multidisciplinary design team to develop industrial components and products, incorporating electronics and software within the Engineering department of a commercial company.

  • Detailed knowledge on topics including electronics engineering from first principles, sophisticated system integration, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability.  Test and validation of designs, with experience in prototyping, debugging and modelling

  • Design of products using CAE tools, integrating simulations, schematics and modelling, layout design and software. 

  • Experienced in safety, EMC, thermal management and mechanical integration a distinct advantage along with the ability to write software including VHDL, C, Assembler and Linux.
