Your job as Obsolescence Management Engineer to support the Service Obsolescence Management activities in Services Product Line .
Responsibilities:
Managing Obsolescence is an essential part of long-term service support of Alstom's systems and products. The Service Platform Obsolescence Management function works with all Alstom's product lines to ensure that obsolescence is managed as an integral part of design, development, production and in-service support in order to minimise cost and detrimental impact throughout the product life.
- Determine obsolescence monitoring strategies for products and projects
- Facilitate and support the development of obsolescence management plans with Product Platforms and Projects
- Review and validate product, project and supplier obsolescence management plans
- With Procurement and Supply Chain, develop obsolescence management capability in Suppliers through use of Supplier Audits and Obsolescence Management Plans; facilitate supplier obsolescence review meetings
- Request & validate product structures and Bills of Material for obsolescence monitoring from Product Units (Design Authority), Suppliers and other sources
- Review incoming obsolescence alerts from external sources and identify necessary actions
- Facilitate development of obsolescence solutions
- Run Obsolescence Management training courses; develop training courses
- Develop tools and systems including TOMSYS and use of SharePoint
- Ensure future Alstom IS development takes account of obsolescence management needs
- Share experience & knowledge of obsolescence management with others
- Participate in and promote Obsolescence Management CCN (Core Competence Network)
The educational requirements :
- Master degree in engineering or equivalent qualification
The experience required :
- Knowledge of rail vehicles & sub-systems
- Information Systems including ERP and Product Data Management
- Obsolescence management & technology watch
- Knowledge of electronic system design and industrialization, preferably in rail or similar
- 3 years experience in technical role in rail or similar industry
The skills and competences we are looking for :
- English & French language (minimum Level 2 for 2nd language)

- Organisation and planning – good time management and delivery
