Åbo Akademi University opens applications for a total of 26 funded doctoral researcher-positions for three years, starting on August 1 2024 (13 positions) and January 1 2025 (13 positions, will be opened for application in autumn 2024).

Deadline for submission of application to the positions that start in August is on April 15, 2024, 3.00 p.m. (Finnish time).

The positions are placed within the doctoral pilot-networks granted by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture, please see more information below:

  • CIMANET: Circular Materials Bioeconomy Network, 6 positions
  • EDUCA: Flagship Doctoral School Pilot Project, 1 position
  • I-DEEP: Innovative Doctoral Education Ecosystem for Photonics, 3 positions
  • Software: Doctoral pilot in software engineering, 4 positions
  • DIWA: Digital Waters Flagship, 3 positions. Application opens in autumn 2024
  • ImmuDocs: National Doctoral Education Pilot based on Immune system, 6 positions
  • FCAI: Finnish Doctoral Program Network in Artificial Intelligence, 3 positions. Recruitment to the FCAI doctoral program is coordinated by Aalto University

Please note that there is a separate application process for the admission to a doctoral programme. Applicants can apply for admission to a doctoral programme after receiving the decision on employment. When the employment commences, the doctoral researcher needs to have a study right for a doctoral degree awarded no earlier than 1.11.2023 or be at a stage of studies that allows the candidate to be awarded a right to study for a doctoral degree during the probationary period, i.e. within six months of the start of employment.
