Your work environment

The headquarters of the AXA Group (GIE AXA) brings together our corporate activities. It provides guidance and support to subsidiaries around the world, to ensure the coordination and monitoring of the Group's global strategy, the application of its standards, the consistency of commercial approaches and the sharing of best practices. Job purpose

As Chief of Staff, provide strategic and operational support to the Group CRO. Ensure effective communication and execution of decisions, coordinating risk committees and related governance, liaising with key stakeholders across the organization and working hand-in-hand with the GRM leadership team.

Dimensions

  •  As Chief of Staff, indirect influence on ~150 GRM employees, and c. 1’350 risk managers across the Group
  • Liaise with alter ego Chief of Staffs to other MC members
  • Support Board level governance (Board Finance and Risk Committee, Group Audit Committee, ARCC, etc.)

Context & major challenges

  • The Chief of Staff position requires generic understanding of Risk Management processes, activities, governance and contribution to the Group strategic priorities. Proactivity, solution-oriented mindset, availability and flexibility are necessary to deliver in a timely manner, and so is stakeholder management to establish GRM as a value-adding partner throughout the Group.
  • The Chief of Staff acts as a key facilitator to address requests and expectations of internal and external stakeholders.
  • The Chief of Staff also drives high level projects and coordinates complex and confidential information to facilitate decision making. He/she is therefore required to maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive business and employee information.

Key accountabilities

Contribute to the establishment of GRM as a value-adding partner across the Group:

  • Coordinating and supporting the Group CRO to manage both Strategy and GRM teams: track priorities, timelines for deliverables and workload distribution
  • Bringing strategic insight to the CRO agenda management ensuring it is aligned with priorities and business requirements
  • Preparation of external and internal presentations, briefs, notes for the CRO and members of the senior management
  • Advice on communication to GRM teams, Risk Management family, external audience
  • Coordination of CROs quarterly meetings and monthly calls, GRM Townhall meetings
  • Coordination of preparation of internal and external materials (e.g. ARCC / GAC / Board documents, presentations for rating agencies, management back-up documents, update of the Risk Section in the Annual Report)
  • Management of transversal projects and processes on behalf of the Group CRO (e.g. Maturity models, CRO Scoping exercise)
  • PMO in case of crisis (e.g. Covid-19 ad hoc crisis cell)

 


Your Profile

Technical knowledge and professional experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of insurance, risk management and main indicators
  • Good business acumen: understanding of the strategic issues facing the Group, with a demonstrated ability to rapidly understand, assimilate, analyze and act on business issues
  • Analytical and synthesizing skills, e.g. ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations in a concise, well-structured, logical and business-oriented manner
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral), with the ability to document and present information in a concise and business-oriented manner (e.g. for senior management)
  • Strong project management skills: ability to track and manage several projects simultaneously with various levels of complexity / interdependence; ability to identify actionable next steps and relevant points of contact across AXA
  • Fully fluent in English is a mandatory requirement (French is helpful, not a must-have)
  • Good practice of MS Office suite

Personal and behavioral skills

  • Capacity to develop strategic relationships with different stakeholders: capacity to develop lasting, trust relationships with different stakeholders at various seniority levels across the Group, in particular when there is no direct reporting line
  • Being influential to ensure effective execution of GRM decisions (even when there is no line of authority)
  • Action-oriented, delivery-focused mindset with strong project management skills
  • High degree of rigor and reliability, combining good analytical skills with the ability to summarize and select relevant information
  • Ability to interact with a variety of different stakeholders (in operating entities, within and outside the Group, etc.) in a multi-cultural context
  • Ability to prioritize and deal with conflicting priorities daily using discretion and professionalism
  • Management of time, negotiation, ability to adapt
  • Curious mindset
  • Discretion, confidentiality and professionalism at all times
