Group T Leuven campus is an international campus providing education, research and services in Engineering Technology. It is part of the KU Leuven Faculty of Engineering Technology. Its bachelor, master and doctoral programmes in engineering technology combine a broad scientific and technological education with a pronounced focus on applications and implementation. In doing so, Group T Leuven Campus is particularly committed to activities with broad societal added value, such as sustainable engineering and health engineering. Entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation run like a thread through the programmes and research.

Responsibilities

  • You teach within the Bachelor's and Master's programmes in Engineering Technology at KU Leuven and take up responsibility for teaching activities that focus on professional engineering competences (including project management, managing and collaborating with teams, communication skills such as scientific writing, pitching, negotiating, etc.). Your teaching assignment mainly involves teaching professional competences and coaching teams of engineering students. You are also responsible for the broad support of the various engineering experiences (projects). To this end, you cooperate with the coordinator of the relevant course units and with the faculty's professional engineering competences teaching team.
  • You help shape the education within the corresponding curricula. You develop the necessary study material, keep it up-to-date and monitor the link with current scientific research on the development of professional engineering competences. These assignments are in Dutch and English.
  • You supervise students, give them feedback and evaluate them. You also coach temporary staff who teach within the curriculum. You support them in their didactic assignment and provide feedback.
  • Within the framework of ETHER you take up responsibilities by writing and coordinating projects, coaching PhD students as a co-supervisor, writing journal papers, etc. Professional competencies and diversity in Engineering Education are among the research lines in which you engage. 
  • You play a role in the public relations of the faculty and the programme. You formulate advice on the faculty's communication and recruitment strategy. You participate in various events such as info days, open company day, science popularisation, visits of international delegations, SID-ins, ... .

Profile

  • You hold a PhD in a field relevant to this vacancy, or equivalent through experience.
  • You are strong in coaching people and teams. Relevant experience in the business world and/or with technology project education is an asset.
  • You are an enthusiastic, empathetic and entrepreneurial team player with inventive ideas who looks for improvements, experiments with new concepts and solves problems in a creative and clear way. You are open to exploring new domains and familiarise yourself with them.
  • You are analytical, results-oriented and student-oriented, and you are open to other cultures and world views.
  • You have good communication skills and are fluent in Dutch and English, in accordance with the language requirements for higher education in Flanders.
  • You are prepared to carry out similar assignments on other campuses of the faculty.

Offer

We offer a full-time appointment for 3 years from 16 March 2023 as a doctor-assistant in scale 44. Upon positive evaluation, this appointment can be extended. In addition to the salary, KU Leuven offers many fringe benefits.
