The Institute of Nursing Science (INS) at the University of Basel (https://nursing.unibas.ch) invites applications for a Doctoral student position on the INSPIRE study team.
The INSPIRE project is a multiphase implementation science project focused on the ImplemeNtation of a community-baSed care Program for home dwelling senIoR citizEns (INSPIRE care model). With the development and feasibility assessment of the INSPIRE care model now completed, the INSPIRE project is transitioning into testing the effectiveness of the INSPIRE care model. This will consist of an adaptation phase followed by its implementation and effectiveness evaluation in a community health care setting.
The PhD student will be embedded in the INSPIRE study team and will participate in the evaluation of the INSPIRE care model (e.g. effectiveness outcomes).
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Assume responsibility for the evaluation of the INSPIRE care model (quantitative data):
  • Conducting primary data collection
  • Managing & analysing data
  • Reporting of findings
  • Participate in research meetings at the INS, nationally as well as internationally
  • Present at national and international congresses
  • Fulfil teaching assistant activities in the Master of Nursing Science curriculum

  • Master's degree in Nursing Science, Public Health, Medicine, Health Sciences, Psychology or related field
  • Experience in geriatric care or geriatric care research is an asset
  • Sound methodological and statistical skills and experience in use of statistical analysis software (e.g., R) or willingness to strengthen these competencies
  • Basic knowledge or willingness to build competencies in implementation science
  • Sound knowledge of basic office packages (e.g., Word, PowerPoint)
  • Competency in German is mandatory at least at B2 level (Swiss German preferred)
  • Good oral and written English (at least a Cambridge B2 level or 5.5 in IELTS)
  • A proactive self-directed working style
  • Flexibility in the work hours
  • Excellent ability to work as a team member
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
