Full-time chair in History, Philosophy or Social Sciences on teaching and education issues

Job description

The research and teaching profile may be in the fields of history, philosophy or social sciences, but must demonstrate a strong interest and expertise in issues relating to teaching and/or education and/or schools. The candidate will be required to give 120 hours of courses in history or philosophy or social sciences, in French, at several "Hautes écoles pédagogiques" located in Brussels and the surrounding area, on issues relating to teaching and/or education and/or schools.

Required educational level: Phd Degree in Sociology / History / Philosophy

Required Languages : 

French : excellent or native

English : good or excellent

  • a Curriculum vitae including a list of publications :

  • a 7,000-character report (4 pages) presenting the applicant’s research activities and a research project, including how these will integrate into ULB’s research teams
  • a teaching dossier including a 7,000-character report (4 pages) on the applicant's previous teaching activities and a teaching project for the first five years in this position; these must be relevant to the faculty and to the teaching profiles for the programmes to which the applicant is expected to contribute
  • a note on the applicant's international achievements and projects (no more than 4 pages)
  • the names and e-mail addresses of five references (with equal gender representation) who may be contacted by those in charge of assessing applications.  These references should not have conflicts of interest because of family or emotional ties.
  • the successful candidate may be required to submit documents attesting to previous professional experience to prove 4 years of scientific seniority.
