The Research Council of Finland funded INVEST Research Flagship & Research Centre invites applications for 1 Senior Researcher in the project “DIGIPARENT: Implementation, personalization and genetics of digitally assisted parent training intervention to improve child mental health services” for a fixed-term position until 31 October 2026. The start of employment is negotiable.

The Research Council of Finland funded research flagship Inequalities, Interventions, and New Welfare State (INVEST) is a joint Research Centre that operates under the Faculties of Medicine and Social Sciences at the University of Turku (UTU) and the Welfare State Research and Reform unit at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). The Faculty of Medicine is represented in INVEST by the Research Centre for Child Psychiatry.

The Research Centre for Child Psychiatry is a nationally leading institution in research on digital mental health interventions for children, young people and families. Since its establishment in 2009, the Research Centre has developed, evaluated and implemented several digitalised targeted and universal interventions aimed at teaching skills that maintain and strengthen mental health.

The target groups of our interventions are, among others, parents of under school-aged children, parents in crisis situations, early childhood professionals, children in primary school, children in secondary school, draftees, students in higher education and pregnant women. The interventions are digital or digitally assisted and their development is based on new technology, such as Artificial Intelligence or Virtual Reality.

In addition to researchers and teachers, the centre employs a competent administrative team including Project and Research Coordinators. Job description

The appointed researcher will be joining the DIGIPARENT-project’s qualitative work package (WP). The project examines the implementation of early psychosocial interventions for children, youth and families in social and health care services. The WP examines the planning, decision-making and implementation of interventions on different levels of welfare services areas (counties). Questions related to the quality, sustainability and targeting of the interventions are also evaluated during the study. The main methodology in carrying out the study is interviewing (incl. of decision makers, coordinators and those working in welfare services areas (counties), healthcare professionals and customers).


Who we are looking for

 

We expect you to have a Doctoral degree in a relevant field and to be able to conduct independent research work and have expertise in Qualitative Research methods. Experience in field work and good interviewing skills is considered an advantage. In addition, good knowledge of social and health service systems and evidence and experience of implementation research are considered an advantage.

The position requires good interaction and communication skills in Finnish and English, as well as good IT capabilities.


Benefits

Salary and probationary period

The salary is determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel. The salary of a Senior Researcher is at levels 4–6, and the job-specific salary element is 2775,28–3747,44 euros per month. The salary of a senior research fellow is at levels 5–7, and the job-specific salary element is 3213,55–4320,23 euros per month. In addition, a personal salary element will be paid. The personal salary element (up to 50 %) for a new employee is normally 6–19 % of the job-specific salary element. A probationary period of 6 months is applied to the position.
