As a Senior Solicitor, reporting to our Senior Counsel for AXA Insurance, you'll play a key role in providing legal services, advice and assistance as required. You'll be responsible for ensuring Group planning and processes are appropriately informed and that legal, financial and reputational risks are managed.

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, either at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide legal services and advice, as required (including drafting/approving documentation) to all levels of business management within agreed service standards, liaising as necessary with external providers, to ensure that legal considerations are fully taken into account and risks appropriately managed.
  • Participate in the identification, analysis and resolution of any proposals by business management likely to give rise to contraventions of the law, in order to safeguard the legal, financial and reputational standing of the Group. 
  • Direct and indirect responsibility for external legal spend up to agreed limits. 
  • Provide seminars, reports and training to the Group as required, in respect of legal matters within the remit of the Legal Department, to ensure that the relevant staff are provided with the level of understanding and competence required to perform their roles. 
  • Monitor, analyse and report on current and potential developments in the law, and the Group’s products and documentation, anticipating legal implications for the Group and (as appropriate) briefing, educating, coaching and advising business colleagues, to ensure that risks are managed, and that effective systems and processes continue to be developed. 
  • Monitor and implement Group risk policies.

What we’re looking for:

  • An experienced qualified Solicitor or Barrister, 2-5 years PQE, relevant industry experience an advantage.
  • The ability to present complex legal information clearly, accurately and in a way that can be understood by the relevant audience. 
  • Technical expertise and flexibility, combined with a sound commercial sense and the ability to make pragmatic decisions, able to operate without supervision. 
  • You'll possess a strong personal impact with developed influencing skills.
  • You'll be professional, have a flexible attitude and objective approach to work.
  • A true team player within own and larger team.
  • Strong planning and organising skills.
