We are inviting applications for a Tenure track position of Professor or Associate Professor in Public Law (Tenure track level 2-3). Professor or Associate professor in Public Law is situated within the Administrative Studies at the Faculty of Management and Business.
Job description

The selected person will be responsible for developing teaching and research on legal issues related to public administration and other public activity in the Unit of Administrative Studies, in the specialization of Public Law.
A prospective candidate’s research interests may cover administrative law, or any related field of Public Law, relevant to the teaching curriculum at the Faculty of Management and Business. Especially legal research on public-private-partnerships and interfaces is appreciated. Research of high international quality is considered a merit. Additionally, knowledge of the Finnish legal system in general and Finnish Public Law in particular are prerequisites for the selection. The task requires good communication skills in Finnish and English.
Requirements
Professor

- track record of supervising doctoral researchers and doctoral education

Associate Professor
We require:
- applicable doctoral degree
- track record of independent scholarly activity
- teaching skills and instruction experience required to successfully perform the duties and functions of the position
- ability to lead a research group and acquire external funding
- track record of international scholarly activity
The top candidates will be interviewed. If necessary, aptitude assessment may also be used. In addition, the candidates may be required to demonstrate their teaching skills. The shortlisted candidates will be evaluated by external experts.
We offer
The professor position is permanent and initial appointment as associate professor is for five years starting from 1.9.2024 or as mutually agreed. If successful, the Tenure track professor will tenure at the end of the first five-year period. Support will be provided throughout the five-year period to ease the transition to a permanent faculty position. A trial period of six months applies to all our new employees.
Salaries are based on the job demands and employees’ personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System. The starting salary of professor will range between 6200 – 6700 EUR/month, and of an associate professor between 5200 - 5700 EUR/month. Higher salaries may be possible depending on the candidate’s experience and performance.
