Associate Professor Pekka Ruusuvuori is looking for 1-2 PhD students (Doctoral Researcher) to join his Research Group at the Institute of Biomedicine for a fixed-term position on a project “Computationally intensive modeling of histopathology using generative and predictive AI” funded by the Research Council of Finland.
The Bioimage Informatics Research Group focuses on development of computational solutions for data-intensive tasks emerging in biomedicine. The group has a strong track record especially in developing artificial intelligence -based systems for diagnostic applications in digital pathology. The group has strong technical and computational expertise and operates in close collaboration with experts in Finland and internationally in biomedical fields, such as cancer research, pathology and cell biology, as well as in technical fields. We encourage the Doctoral Researcher to conduct research visits to collaborating groups during the PhD studies.
Job description
Currently, we are seeking for new members for a project that focuses on developing deep learning -based systems for image-to-image translation and for diagnostics in histopathology. Position includes development of modern deep learning based methods for image-based diagnostics and for image-to-image translation in histopathology in high performance computing environment.
The successful applicant is expected to begin in 1 April 2024, but starting date is negotiable. The position is fixed-term for 2,5 years with a possibility for an extension.
