There is little scientific information on the environmental impacts and benefits of organic products. We are looking for a researcher for a position aimed at a doctoral degree. The goal is significantly increase that information in the Finnish context.
We offer a 48-month position as a researcher for working in the Organic Research Institute (FORI) funded project: ”Life cycle environmental impacts and ecosystem services of the Finnish organic products – methodological framework and case studies” (OLCA). The work focuses on method development and case studies of life cycle assessment of Finnish organic products, including an ecosystem service perspective. In addition, the researcher participates in project communication as part of the science communication of FORI and the research group and in the planning of new projects in the research group.
The position is located at the Natural Resources Institute Finland. The researcher works as part of the project work group and the Sustainability Research and Indicators group. The work is connected to the life cycle assessment research of agricultural and food products at the Natural Resources Institute Finland and the University of Helsinki, as well as Luke's doctoral program and Doctoral Programme in Sustainable Use of Renewable Natural Resources (AGFOREE) at University of Helsinki. The researcher will work under the supervision of the researchers of the Natural Resources Institute (Luke) and University of Helsinki.
Our expectations of the applicant
We expect the applicant to have a Master level degree in environmental sciences, agricultural sciences or another suitable field and good written and oral communication skills as well as motivation for a research career. Knowledge of organic production and experience of working in research projects and life cycle assessment are an advantage for success at work. The chosen one must apply for the right to perform a doctoral degree from the University of Helsinki.
