The University of Jyväskylä, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy is currently seeking to recruit
a Senior Lecturer in Gender Studies, for the period of 1.8.2024-31.12.2025.
The position will be located in Jyväskylä, Finland.
Tasks and qualifications
The Senior Lecturer is expected to teach, supervise, and do research in the area of Gender Studies with a specialization in philosophy. The candidate is required to have a relevant doctoral degree, evidence of academic research work, the ability to provide high-quality research-based teaching and to supervise theses and dissertations.
The Senior Lecturer is expected to conduct high-quality research that supports the research of the Department in its focus areas. In addition, demonstration of strong international networks and ability to acquire external research funding are considered merits.
The duties, qualification requirements and language skills of a Senior Lecturer are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. In this position, teaching is conducted in Finnish and English. The selected person is expected to have a good command of Finnish and English.

The Senior Lecturer’s salary is situated on the job demands levels 5–6 according to the salary system concerning teaching and research staff at universities. The annual salary range will be approximately 40 800-57 500 EUR(gross income, excluding holiday bonus), depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
A trial period of six months will be used at the beginning of the employment.
